CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE

Cardiovascular Disease
Approximately 600,000 people die every year from heart disease in America resulting in more than 108-billion dollars in medical costs (Center for Disease Control, n.d.). Researchers from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden (2014) recently released results involving 18 cohort study of more than two-hundred-thousand participants on the effects of dyslipidemia on the cardiovascular system (Wiklund, Pirazzi & Romeo, 2014). The results of the study indicate that lipid blood levels should be examined in middle age, while the high levels of cholesterol can still be lowered (Wiklund, 2014. et. al.).
Heart disease is not prejudice, afflicting damage to any age, but most significantly people 35 or older (CDC, n.d.). Lifestyle habits contribute to CVD such as smoking, diet, and inactivity.

The chart above from the CDC shows the death rate from heart disease between 2008 and 2010 (CDC, n.d.).

Changes in lifestyle, annual medical exams, and medications can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
